🤝 Connecting with Nature, Connecting with People Building an Environmental Community at Rusutsu Resort (Concept & Planning Stage)

Looking ahead, Rusutsu Resort seeks to advance conservation efforts in close partnership with the local community and to cultivate a “nature-symbiotic community” that engages employees, local residents, students, and guests alike. Our goal is to create a resort where everyone can connect with nature, learn from it, and take meaningful action.

🧑‍💼 Actions by Kamori Tourism Employees (Concept Stage)

  • We are exploring systems that will let employees choose environmentally conscious actions as part of their daily work.
  • Plans include introducing department-level sustainability reports and an internal awards program in the future.
  • We also intend to encourage staff participation in hands-on “nature experience and conservation” programs, enabling them to learn firsthand and pass on their insights.

🏘 Co-creation activities with local residents (in preparation)

  • We are envisioning community-wide nature surveys and forest observation events in collaboration with local schools, neighborhood associations, and agricultural groups.
  • Our goal is to launch a “regional monitoring network” that will watch over and nurture the area’s forests and rivers.
  • We are also planning a system to train local residents as “local guides” who will lead these activities.

🧑‍🎓 Collaborative projects with students and young people (to be expanded)

  • In collaboration with university seminars and vocational schools, we have begun conducting fieldwork and environmental-education activities on a small scale.
  • We plan to fully develop a “Water and Forest School Program” for elementary, junior-high, and high-school study trips and independent research projects.
  • We will also expand into regional demonstration projects in partnership with universities and research institutions.

🚿 Environmental actions with guests (currently in trial phase)

  • Beginning with the introduction of water-saving showers, we are developing services that harmonize guest experience with environmental stewardship.
  • We are considering adding selectable eco-friendly accommodation options, such as a “Green Plan.”
  • Our goal is to design stays that, in and of themselves, contribute to environmental conservation.

🌱 Co-created Sustainability Beginning at Rusutsu

Although this initiative is still evolving, we envision a future in which the “circle of protecting nature” spreads outward from Rusutsu through activities such as:

  • Weekend events where participants can experience forest management firsthand
  • Eco-learning tours that let local children learn about the environment together
  • Conservation workshops involving employees, students, and community members working side by side

Little by little, yet steadily, Rusutsu Resort will keep nurturing a place where nature and people move forward together.
